Disputing with God: A Study In The Book of Malachi

Dates: Sundays at 2:30, starting September 20th

Leader: Jen Venable

Location: CHUM Fellowship Hall

In the book of Malachi, we are invited into exposure of conflict between Israel and God, covenant partners disputing about the nature of their relationship. We can process together how Israel shows up in that space, how God shows up, and what reconciliation looks like. In processing their relationship, we can consider the ways we show up in dispute with God and how he shows up for us.

BOOK STUDIES

The Good and Beautiful God

Dates: Tuesdays, 6:30-8:00, starting September 8th

Leader: Jamie Harper

Location: C+ Office & Meeting Space

Spiritual formation is a bit of a buzzword, but what does it really mean to be formed into Christlikeness? And what rhythms should I create to help me get there? If you’ve had these curiosities, reading the Good and Beautiful God might be a good place to begin. Designed to explore the false narratives we create about who God is and compare them to Jesus, the goal of our time together is for you to better know God, while exploring spiritual rhythms. We will meet for ten weeks: one to introduce our time, and nine reading one chapter a week.

Students

Student FALL Invitations

Leaders: Natalie Lett & Nate Bass

We want students to feel confident of God’s love for them! Through these thoughtfully-planned invitations, we hope to offer students pathways to deepen their relationship with God, their understanding of the Gospel revealed in Scripture, and their community of friendship with believers.

To this end, we invest in three avenues of “life together” with students: bible study, group gatherings, and one-on-one connection. As partners with parents, we value invitation over obligation and relationship over programs.

Kids

Sunday Bible Storytime

Twice monthly: First & Third Sunday

Leader: Grayson Bartlett

Kids’ Bible Storytime is offered for children ages 4 through 2nd grade on the first Sunday of each month. After dismissing from the Sanctuary following the Prayers of the People, kids gather in the Fellowship Hall for a 30-minute, age-appropriate time in God’s Word during the Scripture readings and sermon. They hear a story from the Jesus Storybook Bible, pray together, talk about the Lord's Supper, and say hi to Mortimer Mouse. Children return to their families during the Creed. All volunteers are background-checked and trained in our Child Protection Policy.
