Sunday Bible Storytime

Monthly on the First Sunday

Leaders: Grayson Bartlett

Kids’ Bible Storytime is offered for children ages 4 through 2nd grade on the first Sunday of each month. After dismissing from the Sanctuary following the Prayers of the People, kids gather in the Fellowship Hall for a 30-minute, age-appropriate time in God’s Word during the Scripture readings and sermon. They hear a story from the Jesus Storybook Bible, pray together, talk about the Lord's Supper, and say hi to Mortimer Mouse. Children return to their families during the Creed. All volunteers are background-checked and trained in our Child Protection Policy.

Dinners for Eight

Dinners for 8 is an opportunity for adults to get to know others and build community in our congregation by sharing a meal in someone’s home. When you sign up, you will be assigned (by our pastors) to a group of 8. After that, the host will reach out to the group to schedule two dinners sometime between February 8 and May 10.

StoryWork Weekend

March 12-15, 2026

Everyone has a story. Really, everyone has a multitude of stories that have shaped their lives. If not examined, these stories can run our lives from the background without us ever noticing the patterns. StoryWork provides an attunement and kind tending to our painful origin stories that will allow us to experience healing and freedom from the perpetual fear, sadness, and anxiety we experience in our lives. We can make sense of why these things are present, and Jesus is interested in our healing.

What is Membership at C+?

Friday, April 17, 6:00-9:00pm
Saturday, April 18, 9:00am-5:00pm

Whether you're ready or an inquirer...

  • What is the heartbeat of Church of the Cross?

  • What has God led us in his Word to prioritize and emphasize as a young church in Birmingham?

  • What does the Bible mean when it talks about "membership" in the body of Christ?

  • What does it mean to become a member of Church of the Cross in our tradition (Reformed) and denomination (Evangelical Presbyterian Church)?
